Daily Social Media Content Prompts

One of the most frequently asked questions in my Instagram DMs?

“How do you come up with things to post every day online?”

“Where do you find inspiration for your social content?”

“I have no clue what to post on my Instagram - help!”

… Or some other similar version of this question.

And I hear you. It can be overwhelming to think about brainstorming your social media content needs. When you start adding up all the different types of posts and videos you’re ‘supposed’ to create every single day…

  • one daily static photo post for IG, plus

  • 5-10 daily Instagram Stories, plus

  • At least 1 TikTok, plus

  • 1 engaging Facebook post… plus a Facebook Group post… And a Facebook Reel… plus… 😅

First, let’s cover a few essential truths about your social media. Then, I’ll offer some helpful content prompts.

01. The golden rule: creation > consumption⁣.

It’s time for a quick audit of your social media usage. Ask yourself (honestly) how much of your time spent on socials is scrolling versus creating? Are you really ‘looking for professional inspiration’ for your next post and then hopping off to go create something yourself. Or… are your endlessly consuming other creators’ posts? Always, always create more than you consume. Your posts don’t have to be perfect, but they do have to be published. Set time limits on how long you spend each day on your socials.

02. If you’re building a personal brand, your social media is a business tool.

It’s not a family photo album, a diary or your journal. It’s there to be in service of others. ⁣To connect with your ideal audience, and ultimately to guide them through your customer journey. Look at the last 5 pieces of content you have created. Do the posts all follow this business-minded, customer-serving logic? If not, it’s time to rethink how you’re using your social media, who your content is geared for, and the benefit you offer your ideal customer.

03. Consistency reigns king.

Again, your content doesn’t need to be perfectly curated (this is oftentimes what holds creators back from pushing ‘post’), and your posts don’t need to mimic those of the leaders in your industry. But your posts do need to be consistent, so your audience knows what to expect from you. Hold yourself to showing up and offering some sort of value for your ideal audience, every single week (multiple times per week).

Keeping these content guidelines in mind, here are some specific post ideas! ⁣

Daily social media content prompts to help you connect with your target audience:
