repairing damaged hair
are you struggling to repair damage and grow your hair out? here are some of my best tips to help:
⚡️ always use a heat protectant spray or cream. bonus points for one without waxes/silicones. don’t ever apply heat without one!
⚡️ while we’re on the subject of heat, turn it down. heat is one of the worst things for your hair, so if you’re going to use it, be careful.
⚡️ baaaaby, baby baby your ends. even if you think you’re doing it already, baby them even more. gentle combing, use a detangler, don’t force anything through tangles, gentle scrubbing and drying after the shower, and always use a leave-in conditioner for extra protection and hydration. both dry hair and wet hair can easily snap.
⚡️ silk pillowcase. silk cap when sleeping if your hair is extra fine and prone to breakage. silk scrunchies. throw away small, tight hair ties. microfiber towels. always use a wide tooth comb or wet brush.
⚡️ frequent trims!
⚡️ quality hair products. the wrong ones can and do easily suffocate your scalp with build up over time. imagine pouring wax and tar on your fresh green grass and expecting it to grow... 😂 stop treating your scalp like it doesn’t matter because it’s covered with hair. take care of it like you take care of your skin.
⚡️ take your vitamins! also, drinking collagen or a collagen builder is great for hair and skin. good vitamins for growth? B, D, E, omega fatty acids, zinc.
⚡️ stop bleaching your hair if it’s already dried and damaged. give it a rest. apply frequent oil treatments (like monat’s Rejuveniqe oil).
and hey— give it time. don’t be impatient. consistency wins every time.
remember, it took years to damage it, it will absolutely take longer than a month to see progress.
