Gifts Mom would Love - Holiday Gift guide 2020

isn’t it hard to believe it’s already time to chat about the holidays? once september 1st hits, the remaining months of the year seem to fly by. yes, even in 2020, the never ending year of doom 😂.

so, i’ve been thinking about offering a gift guide for my readers for a little while now, a place where I can compile some of my favorite things that I know you’ll love. This guide gift also serves as an easy way for you to find the things you’re frequently asking me about throughout the year (like my favorite perfume from ambre blends and the calpack travel bag).

this gift guide is specifically for moms. it’s written by a mom, for moms, and approved by mom friends.

ready to dive in? I can’t wait to hear what you think!

1. Ambre Blends.

My favorite Scent? Essence. (the brown bottle). done and done. I've been wearing this fragrance oil for over a decade now, and it's still my go-to, no matter what. It's hard to describe the scent because it's neither floral nor masculine, and it smells different on everyone. The hard part? After a while, you can't smell it on yourself. But I promise you, others will love it. and it lasts forever! I used to put this on at 6 am before a shift at the hospital, and by the end of a 12 hour run, patients would still say they loved it! Even better? Ambre Blends is a small business owned by a woman (named Ambre!), and she lives right here in my home state. The scents are natural and blend with your body chemistry. And--- the donate to Operation Underground Railroad. Nuf' said.

2. Monat hair and skin care.

I know, I know, I'm partial. But that's because it's just that good! It's a U.S.-based company, vegan and cruelty free brand that uses plant based products and science to create the best anti-aging hair and skin care. A few products I know your mom will love?

3. Lululemon Jacket.

I saw this thing and fell in LOVE, and I shared it with a few of my friends. They were equally as obsessed. it’s Warm, trendy (but not too much), stylish, and it can easily be dressed up or down. I can wear it just as easily for a ladies night dinner as I can to the soccer fields. I own the size 10, runs true. and those finger holes! yes!

4. Gucci earrings.

I know, this is a bit of a splurge. But I want this list to be well rounded. One: Gucci is Gucci. 2. I have these and absolutely LOVE them. they're just the right amount of fancy while being everyday, and I haven't taken them off since I got them!

5. Rothys.

every mom wants a practical, comfortable shoe that doesn't look practical. Enter Rothys. I LOVE mine. They're cute, easy to wash and maintain shape, come in a million different styles, and they are an everyday flat that you can wear all day without feeling frumpy. They're a win. And I absolutely love this beautiful camel/ orange shade of this specific pair. what do you think?

6. Tkees boyfriend sandal.

Another pair of shoes that i love and wear regularly! These are called the "boyfriend" sandal, they have a more padded sole and wider bands than the traditional Tkees. I wear them all the time, and they hold up extremely well while being comfy. this brand is a big yes for me in terms of quality.

7. Quay sunglasses.

These are one of my favorite styles, I have them in a few color ways. They look good on everyone, and I receive so many compliments when I wear them! and they're at a pretty decent price point, too!

8. Massage Envy gift card.

Here's the think about Massage Envy, she can book a massage or facial on the fly. I have had a ‘ME membership’ for about three years now, and I can't tell you how convenient it is to be able to log in and book a last minute appointment with my favorite masseuse. It's quick and easy, and if she has a monthly membership, she's more than likely to treat herself more often. Which should be the goal for the amazing moms in our lives, right?

9. Calpack travel bag.

I'm totally obsessed with this bag. Obsessed. It's my go-to carry on for travel, whether it's just a weekend away or a longer trip. So many pockets and compartments and it zips fully closed (I hate travel bags that are open and spill my guts everywhere when a plane is landing). It also holds so much without feeling too heavy on my shoulders. I packed our laptop, my Nikon, and all my carry on essentials in here for our last trip and had plenty of room to spare!

10. The comfiest sweatshirt.

I was shocked last year when I was cleaning out my closet and my mom texted me asking if I had a big sweatshirt she could have. She didn't have a hoodie! not ONE! I was floored. Every woman needs an oversized, super soft hoodie, and this brand is one of my favorites. Buy it big, it's not supposed to be anything other than a comfy blanket she can wear out in public.

11. Breville Barista Touch.

This is the big guns. The fancy cheese. The ultimate splurge. But it's worth it. I have owned a Breville for nearly five years now, and I upgraded to the Touch this year. It was the BEST splurge purchase! Best! If your momma loves coffee, she'll freak out over this. And, Breville has incredible customer service, too.

12. Bum bag.

The ol' bum bag... the new language for what we all lovingly used to refer to as the "fanny pack." I carry mine everywhere, and I've become fully obsessed with the convenience of it. and no pick-pocketer will be able to get at me! SHaring one from my favorite small business, Kelly Moore Bag.

13. David Yurman bracelet.

The reason I love the DY bracelets is because they're timeless and very much anyone's style, whether they wear a lot of jewelry or not. It's one of those little splurge items that your momma may not buy for herself, but she'll adore you thought to spoil her with it.

14. Skims.

Iknow, it's Kim Kardashian's line. Take it or leave it. HOWEVER, these are by far the most comfy loungewear I own. All of it. the tanks, pants, boy shorts, bras...you name it. Grab her a robe and some cozy lounge pants, trust me. Plus, it's size inclusive!

15. Silk pillowcase.

I’ve talked about the many benefits of using a silk pillowcase a few times before, but in case you missed it, here’s a quick rundown:

  • They ensure less friction for your face and hair in contrast to regular cotton blend pillowcases. that may mean less irritation and/or less tugging on your skin night after night due to the smoother surface.

  • They’re cleaner sleep surfaces. they are less absorbent than other fibers (which also means your skincare products stay on your face and not your pillow).

  • additionally, they’re less drying for your hair and skin.

also, they’re super soft, super comfortable and they feel so luxurious. and who doesn’t love that?

16. Charcuterie board.

I'm so obsessed with this Tapas board, I can't even see straight. If your mom is an entertainer or loves to have her friends over, she'll freak over this! i mean just look at the perfect compartments for everything, and the sleek wooden look. perfect for any kitchen, dining room or living room table.

17. Saranoni blanket.

these are truly the softest blankets on planet earth. what i love about them is that they wash well and they really do keep forever. in my opinion, they’re worth every penny. and we’re in the perfect season right now to snuggle up with one of these bad boys. check them out!

18. wine of the month club.

need I say more? every mom in the worl needs a wine club of the month, am i right? you seriously can’t go wrong here. our selections are curated for you (well, or the mom in your life), so you’re not stuck with a selection you don’t love. this is such a great, out of the norm gift idea that keeps giving, month after month.

19. The Sill Indoor plants.

this is perfect if you’re trying to think of a gift that isn’t clothes, or jewelry. You want something the mom in your life will love and can have for a while. enter: indoor plants. the sills has a big collection of plants, planters, ferns, wreaths and more. I love the idea of gifting a unique plant to someone i care about. Browse their best sellers list here.

20. Final gift suggestion your mom will love! And, it's free.

Yup, Freeeeee! Write your mom a letter. Seriously. I know, I used to roll my eyes when my mom told me she wanted a letter for Christmas or her birthday, truuust me. I get your hesitancy. But honestly? At the end of the day, your mom doesn't need things. She just wants to be with her family. She loves you so much, it's embarassing. If you handed her a hand written letter about how much you love and appreciate her, I consider this to be the ultimate gift. Moms work day in and day out for their families, and they don't ask for much in return. Hugs. Hugs are good. and free. an "I love you, mom." that's great too. and the letter? I promise you, you'll hit a home run.

that’s it! that’s my roundup for holiday gift ideas for the special women in your life. if you loved this list, snap a screenshot of this blog, post it to your IG Stories and tag me. I can’t wait to hear which selections are your favorite. happy holidays, all.
