Fall fashion staples in 2020

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”

— Rachel Zoe

When it comes to my favorite fashion trends, dressing for the fall season always wins for me. the thing I love most about fall time, especially in indiana, is the versatility. Early autumn means my favorite oversized Tee, a chunky cardigan and shorts. Mid-fall, I’m usually in my go-to jeans and comfiest sweater. as we approach the start of winter, i play around with layering, finding fun new booties and lots of hats. this year, some of the fall staples you’ll find in my closet include fringe, corduroy, and my fav sweaters, hats and boots.

Here are some of this year’s biggest fall fashion trends, according to some of the go-to fashion authorities online:

50 Shades Beige and Brown

According to vogue, Beige is still everywhere this season, leaning bourgeois or minimalist depending on how it is styled. But the best looks have a richer, earthier feeling to them with darker hits of chocolate, caramel, and cognac. The real takeaway is that there’s no one shade of “nude” out there; every woman can find the colors that work best for her.

Fall Fringe for the win

The tasseled trim was given an elevated touch on the runway this season, per elle.com. Instead of being made for the boho crowd, we're seeing chic office skirts at Christian Dior, evening coats at Bottega Veneta, and more designers cutting their clothes with long carwash fringe. This is a trend I can get behind this year.

Drawstring details

According to cosmopolitan.com, drawstring details are on the rise this season. Whether they’re on the sleeves of your favorite button-up shirt, or the side of a ruched dress.

“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”

— Alber Elbaz
