My Journey Getting Unstuck
do you have a desire in your heart, but you aren’t quite sure what it means, what you’re supposed to do with it, or how to make it happen?
That was me, until I got unstuck.
many years ago, MY FRIEND Candice and I started teaching photography workshops together. If you know me, you know how much photography means to me. But after a while, the workshops lost their magic for both of us. Has that ever happened to you before? it’s like you’ve taken a bit of the joy out of this thing that you love, which you didn’t even think was possible.
CandicE and I started having these deep conversations and began speaking crazy dreams out loud about what else we wanted to pursue. one of those dreams was always the same:
we wished we could have a reason to take a girls trip without the pressure of teaching 20 photographers and instead shoot for fun.
Simply for our hearts and the joy we found in the art form. we just wanted to travel and shoot what we love with no expectation. but we both felt SO stuck. that dream, while it sounded amazing, seemed almost impossible.
but in December 2019, y’all. it happened.
in the middle of the desert with women we never even knew we needed in our lives.and the vessel that got us there? a social selling hair and skin care company. Crazy, isn’t it? How life oftentimes gives you exactly what you need in a way you never could have expected.
To be honest, I didn’t even realize we were living this dream of ours until halfway through our first day of shooting in pasada. and I almost couldn’t handle it emotionally. it just struck me. WE DID IT. We really made that dream happen.
So here’s my message to you today: if you have a dream, please speak it. Out loud.
both to yourself and to those who love you. Then pray about it, and let God work it out.
don’t be scared to say “yes” to something else when your original plan doesn’t pan out.
don’t be afraid to stretch and try new things.
don’t come up with every reason why it won’t work and instead be open to the journey.
and you may look back in four years and realize that what you had prayed for or dreamt about came true right before your eyes.
I mean. truly. what’s the worst that could happen?
