Ignore The Outside Noise
I’ve heard it all…
“Who does she think she is?”
“Look at her thinking she’s a model and taking selfies.”
“Why would she quit her job to do that?”
“I’m not going to buy off her link.”
“She’s not pretty enough.”
“She’s not young enough.”
“She’s dumb.”
The truth is, I’ve experienced that kind of “moral high ground” for years.
Don’t get me wrong, not everyone in my life has said anything along those lines. In fact, majority of my village has rooted me on since day one, but unfortunately, the naysayers have also been there right alongside them, doubting me every step of the way.
It started when I decided to quit nursing for photography; people thought I was crazy.
Photography surpassed my nursing income, I wasn’t as mentally strapped, I was able to be flexible with my schedule, and although I worked more when we needed the finances, I was still home more than I was as a nurse and able to spend more time with my kids.
*Enter* all the people who thought they knew what was best for me and my family.
Guess what happened when I switched to Monat being my main full-time job? You guessed it.
How do you ignore it?
Many entrepreneurs and dream chasers are prone to outside noise of those who don’t understand their vision or journey.
So, for the woman who is doing something she loves, finds joy in, and is passionate about…
I see you and I have some tips for you:
Believe in yourself and your purpose. If you don’t, who else will?
If it were easy, everyone would do it. Do it anyway.
You never know what can happen unless you begin. “5,4,3,2,1…Take Action!” – Mel Robbins.
Practice gratitude. All day. Everyday.
Surround yourself with those who see your vision as strongly as you do, who support you no matter what, who challenge you, who are there on the hard days, and who truly want you to succeed!
It’s okay to fail. Yes, I said it. Fail fast, and fail often, but don’t get down on yourself for it. The biggest lessons are learned in moments of failure.
And here’s the biggest one…you ready? Ignore the naysayers! There will always be people who talk, who doubt you and your abilities, who spread negativity, and who want to see you fail. Don’t listen or waver from your path. Keep your chin up and keep pushing on. If at any point you question your journey (which is very likely because let’s be honest, we are only human), work on personal development and build your mindset. One day, you will be resilient, and nobody’s opinions will deter you from your vision and dreams.
In case you haven’t heard it yet…
Congratulations on chasing your dreams. I’m rooting for you always!
