the truth about the trips i earn

I want to address an assumption I get all the time. ⁣

“yeah, you 𝘴𝘢𝘺 the trip is free, but it’s not 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 free.” 😂😂 some people are sure that I’m hiding the fact that airfare or hotel is being paid by me. 𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘦. ⁣

these are the hard truths that some of you need to accept: ⁣

just because you haven’t experienced it 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. ⁣

just because it sounds too good to be true 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗲.⁣

just because your cousin’s uncle’s dad’s babysitter’s dog walker says you’ll never earn a trip 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁. ⁣

don’t @ me with “𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘹𝘺𝘻” unless you also @ that person and tell them “𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁 is 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁.” deal? deal.⁣

when we say “free trip?” yes. free trip. the flight, hotel, and all inclusive perks? 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀. “earned free trip” means 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱. you can earn one for this year, did you know that? Punta Cana, all inclusive. you could sign up with me today and be on that trip in October. 😎⁣

now the fine print that isn’t really fine print at all? you pay taxes on the cost of the trip. 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴— this is an IRS thing. this is true for any company that offers earned trips. and I don’t care. all day long, any tax I’ve ever paid on an all inclusive tropical vacation with my friends (or um hello? even places like Spain, France, Monaco and Bora Bora with my husband, it was free for him too!)— worth every penny. ⁣

doubt kills dreams. stop assuming the worst and start believing that really good, exciting things are there waiting for you when you work for them. ✨⁣ ⁣

The truth is, This job. 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲.⁣

use what you love.⁣

share what you love.⁣

tell your friends.⁣

create community.⁣

and just 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲. ⁣⁣

no need to overcomplicate it. ⁣
